This Ones For The Birds...

Idiom:
"Birds of a Feather Flock Together"

Most of us know what this saying means already, so bare with me.

Meaning:
People who have things in common, such as the same interest and ideas, usually hang out together; people who are alike become friends.

Origin:
This saying which is over 2,000 years old and comes from the bible, is based on the observation that birds of the same species flock together on the ground as well as in the air. The meaning has been broadened over the years so that "birds" means "people" and "of a feather" means "of the same type."

Did you ever see a "baggy pants" kid, a "wearing all black" kid,  a preppy kid and a cowboy hanging out together? Probably not!!
They can't agree...one may like to listen to Rap, another Rock music, another Classical and the other, Country music.
There would be endless fights over the boom box.
In order to hang out with each other and have a good time, you have to agree somewhere.

When I was a teenager I had a large group of kids I hung out with that was not in church.
I just new I could win them...all. When I first started out I wouldn't listen to their music or talk like them.

I kept my self in the prayer room. But then one day I didn't pray, and then the next day I didn't feel like praying...and so on and so forth, my POWER, my STRENGTH, the "HOLY GHOST" it was slowly evaporating.
Before I knew it, their music sounded nice and I began to say words they would say here and there to impress them. Instead of me standing for what "I Believed," I failed God, myself and them too.

For some, It is very hard to be the different one in the crowd...
you certainly have to have the POWER of the Holy Ghost to help you stand or you'll find yourself on a fence, straddling it!

We should reach out often to those around us who are lost and don't know about the Love of God.

But be very careful, always stay prayed up while witnessing or the devil makes their lifestyle look so appealing that before you know it...your in "Their" Flock!

Some may say this lesson will only fit teenagers, but I begged to differ. I have seen several adults loose out because they didn't stay prayed up while witnessing to the world.
