Did you ever get an infection from a cut or wound you didn't take care of right away or tend to properly?
It became festered, swollen and sore from the dust , dirt and germs getting in.
You need to put peroxide on it and get all the yuck bubbled out. Smother it with some triple antibiotic ointment and slap a Band-Aid on it for protection from foreign objects.
